Background:

Kim Chai is a partner of the firm and heads the firm’s corporate, banking and conveyancing practice.

Before joining Ariff & Co, Kim Chai was the head of the legal department in a financial institution for a number of years.

He has substantial exposure in corporate legal work, including business sale and acquisitions, joint venture agreements and memoranda of understanding. He has advised clients on the sale and purchase of shares, shareholders’ agreements, trusts and related documents.

Kim Chai is familiar with all aspects of property financing, corporate banking, commercial banking and ship financing transactions. His area of practice includes advising and preparing all types of banking facility agreements and security documents for both conventional banking and Islamic banking institutions. He has recently advised on and prepared the transaction documents for a leading Malaysian Islamic bank for a facility of RM1.35 billion.

His practice area also encompasses property transactions. These include the sale and purchase of all types of property, ranging from vacant residential land, landed houses, apartments and condominiums, industrial land and factories.

Kim Chai also advises clients on and prepares property leases and tenancies. 

His practice area also includes advising clients on and drafting wills.
